A ritual for disruption

I created a workbook titled “A ritual for disruption” for Bay Area artist/Korean shaman Heesoo Kwon’s art installation Leymusoom Giftshop in collaboration with Sming Sming Books. Drawing on Korean Catholic giftshops, the Leymusoom Giftshop featured all sorts of devotional objects for Kwon’s religion, Leymusoom.

“A ritual for disruption” was one of the four prayer books created for the installation. The book called on readers to develop their own rituals to disrupt the patriarchal and hegemonic norms imposed upon us in western society.

Leymusoom Giftshop was exhibited in Bay Area Now 9 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts from Oct. 6–May 5, 2024. To read “A ritual for disruption,” click here.
